With only small changes, you can improve your home’s curb appeal and make your house feel even more beautiful.
1. Add Landscaping
The number one way to make your home look new and beautiful is to add landscaping. That may include trees, flowers, and plants. Choose a mulch or rock that accents your home in a great way. When planting your new plants or flowers make sure you know which season they do best in. You may want to wait until Spring to make these changes. Calculate what mulch and plants will cost you and have a design plan before starting. You may have to edge the flowerbeds or add additional flowerbeds to your home. You can always get a professional opinion on what they would do as well.
2. Driveway
You can reconcrete, add pavers, paint, or reseal your driveway. You may even just get by with power washing it. Making your driveway look new and clean is one of the best ways to upgrade your curb appeal. If you paint your driveway you can even add fun designs to it. Start with power washing the driveway and sidewalk and any other areas that need cleaning. You may just need a power wash and not a totally new install of pavers or concrete.
3. Paint Your Front Door
Painting your door an accent color or giving it a fresh coat of paint will increase your curb appeal. While at it you can change the door handles as well. This is an inexpensive and fast way to change the look of your home.
4. Replace Your front door
Why not just paint it but buy a new one. Front doors have been in homes for decades. This means many times they become outdated. You can turn a solid door from the ’90s into a beautiful glass door or custom-designed wood door.
5. Add Lighting
Adding lighting to your home like uprights or accent lights around your bushes really shows your home off in the evening. It’s a beautiful way to add curb appeal. Just make sure you have professional help with digging the electrical lines and the installation.
6. Add Decorations
Adding decorations especially around the holidays increases your curb appeal. Wreaths are a great way to add to your front door and appeal to the home. You may also add wreaths to each window.
7. Paint the Garage Doors
Painting your garage doors a basic color or the faux wood look will make your garage door look beautiful. This is especially important to curb appeal if the garage door faces the street. This is an easy DIY project or one you can call a professional in for.
8. Paint the Exterior
You may want to hire a company for this and consult your HOA but painting your home increases the curb appeal. Maybe your paint has become old or it’s a color that doesn’t fit your home anymore. Choose a color that is tasteful to your neighborhood and take your time deciding on the trim colors.
9. Add Shutters
Shutters don’t automatically come on homes and many styles of shutters are a beautiful addition. Choose the color you may want and then have them hung next to each window. You would be surprised how much shutters add to a home for curb appeal.
10. Clean
Just cleaning, power washing, cleaning the windows and exterior is a great way to make your home beautiful. Get rid of spiderwebs, old leaves, and dirt walkways.
11. Change your windows
You may need new windows or you may want to change them. Adding new windows isn’t just for curb appeal but can help the value of your home and help your heating and cooling costs.
12. Upgrade the Grass
Go through your yard and kill any weeds you may see. If your grass isn’t looking its healthiest you can always buy sod for your yard. Trimming the grass and making it healthy will make your home look spectacular. While at it, trim your trees and bushes.
13. Exterior Renovation
Some people decide that the front of their home could use more. You can add small elements or add a front porch. This may take some time to add to your home and it may take professionals but adding a front porch is a beautiful addition to any traditional home.
